All of Collaboratory’s research projects are centred around one or more challenges relevant to local communities. Projects are carried out by a research candidate, and are supported by teams of Leicestershire researchers and partners from local community-focused organisations.

Collaboratory studentships are packages of funding and support awarded to a successful applicant to enable them to work towards a PhD degree or the completion of a Research Placement as part of a pioneering new approach to community centred research. Eligibility criteria
Only applications from those who meet our eligibility criteria will be considered. It is essential that all prospective applications read our eligibility criteria in full before making their application.

All applications must be made through our online forms, linked at the top of this page. We do not accept applications by email and we do not accept CVs in place of a complete application form.

Collaboratory offers a range of information and support sessions to ensure that you can be as an informed and prepared as possible. We strongly encourage all applicants to attend one of our Information Webinars to learn more about us, and to find out if a Collaboratory PhD or Research Placement opportunity is right for you. We also run an informal drop-in day, for those who’d like to talk to us in-person, and Research Demystified webinars to help you understand what research involves and how to write a strong application.
