Before submitting an application to the Collaboratory Research Hub Research Placements Studentship Scheme 2025, please ensure you have read our eligibility criteria in full.
This scheme is open to all permanent UK residents who meet our minimum eligibility criteria detailed below. These criteria apply to all advertised Collaboratory Research Placement projects. Applications which do not meet our basic eligibility requirements will not be considered.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to be considered for a funded Collaboratory Research Hub Research Placement studentship you must meet the following requirements.
- You must be available to undertake the Research Placement from 06 October 2025 to 12 December 2025. Studentship start dates cannot be deferred.
- Successful applicants must be available to attend a mandatory induction on Monday 06 October 2025 (9:30am-1pm) and mandatory training Wednesday 08 October (10am-12pm)
- You must be at least 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
- You must live in the UK as your country of permanent residence, in either Leicestershire and Rutland, or one of the immediately surrounding counties. Applications from those whose primary residence is not the UK will not be considered.
- You must not be enrolled on any other higher education degree by Monday 06 October 2025. All higher education degree programmes must have been completed with final results issued by this date.
- You must not be a current , formal employee of either Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, Loughborough University, De Montfort University, or the University of Leicester, working in a research, or research supporting or affiliated role. Those working for the universities in roles not affiliated with research, such as general administration, estates, catering, etc., may still apply.
- Those who already hold postgraduate level degrees, or who already have experience of research (of any kind) through their professional work are not eligible to apply. The only research experience we will accept is that obtained as part of a single undergraduate degree. Those with Masters degrees, PhD degrees, or any degree awarding the title of Doctor (i.e., Doctor of Medicine) are not eligible to apply.
- You can only submit one application relating to one project from the list of available 2025 Collaboratory Research Placement projects. If you apply for multiple projects, or a project that is not from the list of available 2025 projects, your application will be rejected.
- You must submit a full and complete application by 11:59pm on Sunday 29 June 2025. Any incomplete applications, or applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
